This statement is issued on behalf of Kuona (“Kuona”,“we”,“us”or “our”). This statement sets out how Kuona seeks to ensure that its operations and its supply chains are kept free of slavery and human trafficking (“Modern Slavery”).
This Modern Slavery Code of Conduct (the “Code”) establishes the minimum standards that Kuona expects from all customers, contractors, and suppliers (“Partners”) operating in association with our organization. We are committed to upholding internationally recognized human rights and ethical work practices, in line with international guiding principles on business and human rights. This commitment extends to our Partners, and adherence to this Code is a requirement in all agreements and business practices with Kuona.
The Code sets forth minimum standards that Partners must meet or exceed. These standards do not intend to deviate from applicable national or local laws.
We unequivocally oppose the use of any form of child labor. Partners must comply with relevant child labor laws, ensuring that workers employed meet the minimum legal age requirement in their respective countries of operation. Workers under the age of 18 must not engage in hazardous work that could negatively impact their physical or mental development. Partners are prohibited from contracting with any entity employing or engaging in child labor.
Partners must not participate, promote, or engage in forced, bonded, indentured, or involuntary prison labor, nor support any form of human trafficking. Compliance with slavery and human trafficking laws is mandatory. Partners are responsible for ensuring that all workers engage in employment voluntarily and are free from mental or physical coercion. Contracting with entities using or engaging in modern slavery or trafficking is strictly prohibited.
Partners are obligated to take reasonable measures to ensure the absence of Modern Slavery and human trafficking within their supply chains and business operations. Compliance with this Code, in addition to applicable national and local laws, is mandatory. Partners must certify that materials in their products comply with relevant slavery and human trafficking laws. Immediate reporting of any breach or deviation from this Code is mandatory.
In the event of a breach, we reserve the right to request a corrective action plan from the Partner. If the breach persists or is severe, we retain the right to terminate any existing contractual relationship.
We expect our directors, officers, employees and consultants to uphold the principles as set forth in our Code of Conduct and this Code and encourage reporting of any suspected violations by contacting our legal department or by submitting an anonymous complaint to our executive team.
